SMACKALICIOUS SHELLFISH FEAST: Lobster, scallops, and crawfish swimming in a dairy-free copycat of Smackalicious sauce. Don't wear white... This is going to be messy!

Shellfish platters are SO easy to put together. Especially when the seafood is top-quality and clean like these scallops and lobster tails from SizzleFish.  I was so impressed when I went to remove the tough abductor muscles from the scallops and found that they were already perfectly prepped! And they were so sweet!

Special seafood deserves a special sauce. Smackalicious sauce is slightly spicy, buttery, tangy... and addictive. BUT, the recipe calls for 4 STICKS of butter!

I swapped out the butter with butter-flavored coconut oil and added twice the regular amount of chicken broth.  Healo Foods bone broth works perfectly because it doesn't add a lot of salt to an already salty-ish sauce.

You can buy the sauce mix, but I'll bet you have most of the ingredients in your pantry already... and who wants to spend $24 on one packet? Plus, it contains soy and other stuff I don't need to eat.

DAIRY-FREE SMACKALICIOUS SAUCE

    1 T Lemon juice
    1 T Vinegar
    1/3 c Pickled Ginger, minced

In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
Heat a pan on medium-low and warm the coconut oil/butter substitute.
Add onion & garlic. Saute until soft.
Stir in the spice mix and rest of the ingredients.
Bring to a slow boil and cook until reduced to desired thickness.

This sauce tastes even better when made a day ahead of time.
Leftover sauce? It freezes like a dream!
